Making salads almost too beautiful to eat
Today we ’re visiting with Art in Ada , Michigan , who has find a beautiful and strange way to love the bounty of the garden .
There was a sentence when I had an expansive garden in suburban Chicago , but inevitable curtailment leave me in newfangled directions . Now focusing oncontainer gardensand a newwildflowergarden for our community . I make out the MSU Master Gardener curriculum in 2019 and was a finalist in container competition in Chicago in 2017 .
Another means I like to look at my garden is how I can institute it to the dinner table . Here are a few examples of my beet salads that keep the garden always in sentiment . OK , so thebeetsare from the local farmers market , but theherbsand flowers are all from my container garden . append a little chèvre and balsamic reducing , and hey , it ’s a fancy salad .

There is n’t any chemical formula , inspiration , or other influence on how they are made . It ’s all an “ in the minute ” creation . In addition to Beta vulgaris I like to apply pears and other yield , pistachios , and either chèvre ( French ) or profane ( Gallic or domesticated ) cheese . Edible flowersare finding their way into the plates as well . I grow sweetbasiland Thai basil(Ocimumbasilicum , yearly ) , English thyme(Thymusvulgaris , Zones 5–9 ) , lemon thyme(Thymus citriodorus , Zones 6–9),chives(Allium schoenoprasum , Zones 3–9),Calendula(annual ) , nasturtium(Tropaeolummajus , yearly ) , mojito mint(Mentha × villosa , Zones 4–9 ) , a melon vine sage(Salviaelegans , Zones 8–11 or as an yearly ) , and , of trend , rosemary . Local farmers offer three type of common beet ( red , orange , and confect stripe ) so I can mix and match as require . I test to buy “ salad - size of it ” beets so I have an appropriate weighing machine to work with .
Art ’s “ herbaceous plant farm , ” which issue forth in ready to hand when prune up meals . Herbsare a capital option for gardeners in small spaces and container because a little act of them live on a long way , and you could easy add them to nearly every meal you cook .
Another sight of the herbs – and flowers – growing on the small porch to make a beautiful and productive distance .

Two chairs and a table make a small breakfast nook , while planters on the railing add beauty .
The rest of the image are of Art ’s incredible creative beetroot salads that show off the herbs and eatable flush he grows to flawlessness . Such a fantastic elbow room to delight the ravisher of gardening !
