I do n’t know if this is the braggart Carica papaya in the world , but it ’s the biggest I ’ve ever seen :
I ’m used to seeing keen big papaya that are the long type – not round , melon - like fruit like this one .
Unfortunately I no longer have a scale so I ca n’t enjoin you what it weighed .

The cavity inside this papaya was pretty large :
Not really as much flesh as one might wish from a yield this size , but it was nothing to sneeze at .
I ca n’t take citation for grow this papaya – that credit goes to my friend here who have the mother tree diagram on their farm . They tell me that some of the fruit on the tree are oblong and some are immense round fruits like the one they give me .

I ’ll play you’re able to guess what I did with the seed .
This might not be the self-aggrandising papaya in the world , but that does n’t mean we ca n’t engender the biggest papaia in the creation from some of its offspring , right ?
I plant fistfuls of papaia germ along the edge of the bulwark by our gardens … the piffling seedlings are already coming up .

I should do a video soon on how to germinate melon tree seeds . I mean to do that when I was in Ft . Lauderdale and take on care of The Great South Florida Food Forest Project but never get around to it .
So many mind , so little time …
In general , you do n’t really postulate to plant Carica papaya on purpose where I now live in the tropics . They pop up everywhere all on their own . There are century if not thousands of seedlings popping up down the hillside and by the creek . Papaya grow by drainage ditch and roadsides , backyards and waste spaces … they ’re everywhere and come in all types from itty - bitty rotund fruit to big , foresightful things .

I ’ll let you get it on how these giant melon tree semen turn out . It would be nifty to have melon vine - sized Carica papaya all the time , even if just for the curiosity of it .
