The rains have stopped – the Lord’s Day has appeared – and the garden is at last in full crop mode !

From a unfermented intellectual nourishment perspective – it just does n’t get any better than this time of year . Almost every meal or bite at home comes straight from the garden : conjure up fried zucchini , cultivated carrot , onion and peppers – swelled salads topped with fresh heirloom tomato plant , cucumbers , carrots , onion plant and more – eggs and deep-fried potatoes –   fresh salsa with capsicum , tomato , ail and onion plant – corn on the cob – and my pet ( although not as intelligent ) – fresh blackberry pie !

But beyond the incredible fresh nutrient card – harvest time time also means canning and preserving run into   full swing at the theater !

Although develop and preserve our food certainly saves on market banknote   – our   existent destination has always been to know   where our food comes from and how it was rise .   It is a very cheering feeling to bang that not a single oz. of pesticides or stilted fertilizers are ever used to uprise the food in our garden .   alike – it ’s just as comforting to know that any jar pulled from our canning cabinet or freezer throughout the year is completely free of preservative .

The   key fruit to hold   our own year - round healthy “ intellectual nourishment supply ”   is make a list of what we like and apply throughout the class   – and   then   plan and embed the garden to gather   those   “ food keep ” goals .

Put just – we take the foods that our kinsfolk enjoy the most throughout the year , calculate an   average of what we use of each throughout the yr – and verify we can produce consequently .   Each year , we update the inclination based upon any changes ( like realizing we can never make enough salsa for the kid ! ) – and adjust the plan . With that say – here is our updated canning and continue goal list   this year :
