Kitchen Garden Seeds has been providing a great selection of vegetable, herb and flower seeds since 1908.
As another garden season winds down with the year , my thoughts turn to the hullabaloo of prepare for next year ’s season . Perusing through my pile of current and 2015 seed catalogue , I notice that a few have a sure ‘ root ’ to them . The Kitchen Garden Seeds catalog is one of those , and is the latest addition to my semen catalogue collection .
Kitchen Garden Seeds is located in Bantam , Connecticut . Since 1908 , they ’ve specialized in vegetable , herbaceous plant and flower seed . Their catalogue assemblage is from one of the oldest and most prestigious flower bulb importer in the United States , John Scheepers .
From their catalog , “ The spirit and care with which nurseryman sow seed , tend garden and lionise seasonal bounty is priceless , and must never be underestimate . It ’s sinful how just one life crafted around the garden and the kitchen can affect so many . It ’s catching goodness borne of one ’s passion for gardening and cookery , and the legerdemain of seeds . It enhances every aspect of life : the measure of our days , our physical health and well - being , our connection to the season , and the joyfulness that we feel and share for the world that we aid to create . ” Last class they launched a Modern website , perfect with an online cookery book , in - depth horticultural information , and seasonal special .

The Kitchen Garden Seeds catalog has a very dim-witted and clean design , and is a good representative of “ less is more ” . The catalog is 60 pages of vegetable , herb , and ejaculate listing , with no fluff or unneeded extras . Like a movie that ‘ go right into the action and never show the possible action credits ’ , the cum listing start inside the front binding , and do n’t stop until they reach the back cover . The first 14 and last 14 pageboy of the catalog are in color , with the rest being in fateful . The only artwork in the catalog ( color photo are only on the cover ) are some attractively - drawn line illustrations by artist Bobbi Angell . The two - column page listings are light to read . I also apprize ( as you ’ve heard me mention before ) the economic consumption of an uncoated paper stock that the catalogue is printed in . Vegetable seminal fluid listings occupy the first 40 Page of the catalog ; followed by culinary and ornamental herbaceous plant ( five pages ) ; and last comestible , fragrant , fragrance , bedding and vining flowers ( fourteen page ) .
Kitchen Garden Seed ’s catalogue is a large source for vegetable , herb and heyday seeds , and should be part of your seed catalog collection .
