The most beautiful of these crepuscle delicacies is in all probability the Chicken of the Woods , Laetiporus s.(also referred to as Sulphur Shelf ) .   They are usually find in the fall , but will sometimes fruit through the wintertime and in other Spring . They are strikingly bluff and colorful with lovely orangish , peach , or yellow wings , which makes them toilsome to miss . Bright and beautifully formed , they are   easily recognisable and identifiable .

Chicken of the Woods are unremarkably   find on beat oak trees or dais . In some country they can be find growing on poison hemlock or other cone-bearing trees . But , they should not be deplete if they are not found on hardwood . The hopeful orangish offstage of the fungus can be witness high in tree or growing at the base of them . They can be arranged on lateral formation , or are sometimes clustered in vast rosettes .

The appearance of the fungus changes as it grows and old age . fresh growth looks soft and circular progressing to the bland and winged regulate as they grow , and eventually bleaching out and twist chalky when they decay . The good specimens for deplete are either very young or mature but still piano and brightly colored . The underside should be bright white .

Look for these bright and beautiful fungus anytime you are hiking in cool atmospheric condition and be indisputable to have plenty of big suitcase . These chickens sometimes count more than any feathered crybaby . I have had to cut specimen apart in the Natalie Wood to be able to fit them into my postman . Cutting these fiend up and clean them can be a magnanimous task . They are deserving the work though . Because when   they are bracing and tender , they are a marvellous comestible fungus .

Chicken of the Woods   is an interesting and versatile ingredient . Their “ gist ” is a texture unlike most any other fungus , and really much like eating chicken breast . I ’m hesitant to blog about them , in fear of the Natalie Wood being filled with athirst vegans that might read this . This subtly delectable mushroom-shaped cloud can be used in fret , batter and deep-fried , pickle , stir fried , and simply sautéed . Chicken of the Woods is fun to discover and to cook . teach how to positively identify these lulu , and keep an eye out for them anytime you are hike up in coolheaded weather . When you do find them , be sure to recollect the localisation because they will usually reappear in the same spot for many years .
