A low-care garden that looks fantastic
Today we ’re visiting the garden of Cindi Jacobs , whose family just sold their place .
This is our home in Quechee , Vermont . With a nostalgic heart and semisweet feelings , we had to betray sell our position after 19 old age . My husband and I , along with our now two vernal grownup children , pass many weekend and summers in our woodsy spot . The garden was created with the mentality ofminimal maintenanceand watering provided by Mother Nature .
The pots are filled with hearty plant — ivy(Hederahelix , Zones 5–10 , reckon on the variety),ornamental peppers(Capsicum annuum , annual ) , marigolds(Tagetes erecta , annual ) , and annual grasses(Pennisetumglaucum , annual)—that feel at home against a fragmented track fence .

At the entrance of the driveway , I planted a modest beach rose(Rosa rugosa , Zones 3–9 ) shrub , which is now the background of this seam with perennials in the front .
Cranesbill(Geranium)in front , chickenhearted - flowering ligularia(Ligulariadentata , Zones 4–8 ) in the rear . The garden are mostly shade with lots of rock and roll . Since we have no grass , segregating each area with different “ deck ” helped . Here we used crushed rock , brick , stone , opprobrious mulch for the course , and brown mulch inside the beds .
In the window box , I ingeminate the container ’ themes of marigolds , common ivy , and peppers , and then I added coleus(Solenostemonscutellarioides , annual ) andornamental cabbage(Brassica oleracea , annual ) .

I establish this firepit and position the patio many years ago — and end up ensure a massage healer after being ineffectual to turn my head . Bluestone is heavier than it looks even when you are tramp it !
Finally , a grouping ofwinter plantersby the front door . I used a few smallevergreensfor lynchpin and then added pieces of cut branches / foliage to fill in for color andtexture , as I feel wintertime does n’t have to be all white .
