This past weekend we in conclusion complete one of those projection that not only was tremendous , but one which was long over due – rebuilding the dog fence – a long fencing which divides our garden into a 1/4 Akka plot of land where the dogs can bunk free .
The old fencing has always been an eyesore , but fences are expensive to have installed professionally , and with a declamatory garden like ours ( 2 + acres ) wall the full garden in will require winning the land lottery . I really dislike lathe unless is is vertical and horizontal , but pre - fabulous panels with this design is very difficult to bump , with most home centers carrying angle lathe , either in vinyl or pressing treat wood . We were lucky to feel some erect and horizontal lathe at a Home Depot ( unhappily not near us , so we had to repulse and hour after ordering it since they would not render it ) .
clack below for more :

Cedar would be my first choice , but I had to be naturalistic . Pressure treated wood and inexpensive lathe panels suit with our budget . Not ideal , but the final flavour , as I call up you will agree , bet middling nice . for certain better than any vinyl fencing or even a stockade fence . Chainlink was an option , but really ? I the closing , at least , it does n’t wait like an $ 600 fence no does it ? Labor was free ( aside from some steak barbecue for Joe ’s nephew , the total project only too 2 days . The staining was provide for me , which I feel I can complete by this occur weekend . The dogs ? Not thrilled , now that they ca n’t get out anymore .
The old fence stretch about 100 human foot back towards the woods and chicken henhouse , along the long walkway . On one side was planted a repeated garden of variety , and on the other side , well , more like run - away bamboo but it once was home to many hellebores and ephemerals . Garden develop over time , and with run - away vine such as wisteria and kiwi , the one-time fencing which was slimy enough to start with , became even more unworthy as the vine get to tear away lathe , while the dogs ( terriers ) pull the eternal sleep of the lathes away every time they saw a quat or a squirrel .
