Early Flowering Treasures

There are so many exciting flowers appearing every twenty-four hours in the garden now that I wish it would slacken down a bit so that I could savour each one .

Iris bucharica

I have always loved the difficult Juno iris and wished that I could grow them . They are notoriously tricky to grow . But there is is one Juno that is easy and it is a delight . Irisbucharicais a small growing iris ; it is about 16 inches marvellous . It amount from Uzbekistan where it grows in the mountains . It was introduce into this country in 1901 . It has plenty of fragrant yellow and white efflorescence growing from the axil of the parting . you’re able to see that there are plenty of buds to open . It likes a sunny position and free - draining soil . put the photo up here , I see that the flower has been nibbled so something else like it too .

I loveMuscariand all the little give blossom with bell mold blossom . Still on the yellow theme , here is the yellowMuscari macropetalumwhich   is adorable .

Muscari macropetalum

I like to have a pot of the deliciously fragrantMuscari macropetalum‘Golden Fragrance ’ in the greenhouse . It is lovely to be able-bodied to bring it into the house when it is in flower .

I have been very disappointed with this foresighted awaitedMuscari‘Pink Sunrise ’ . As you see it is hardly pink at all .

I have more lovelyMuscaricoming on for a further post . But my next plant although the flower are muscari - corresponding is something quite different . Synthyris missuricavar . stellata is a timberland prime which likes a plenteous , moist dirt . I make love its big , blue flower and its pear-shaped leaves with serrated bound .

Still on theMuscari - alike flower theme , I latterly bought a plant labelled : Heloniopsis umbellata . I have never seen it before and I can never stand something rarefied .   It has pink flowers , a flake like a largemuscari .

The rose window of leaves is similar to that ofYpsilandra thibeticawhich I wrote a post about in January . The flowers look quite similar too , only more bell mold . The following is   the exposure I withdraw last yr of theypsilandra;this year it does not look quite as good , it only has four flowers .

When I front upHeloniopsison the internet the flowers did n’t look like mine , they wait just like the tufty 1 ofypsilandra , so now I am confused . Perhaps they are closely related .

Another flora I love at the moment isCorydalissolida . ‘Corydalis ’ means ‘ crested meadowlark ” in Greek which is a pretty way of describing the flowers . It seed around andthe adorable thing is you never know what colour prime you are pass to get . I embark on out with   some purple ones and cite varieties like the pink : ‘ Beth Evans ’ and thisCorydalis‘George Baker ’ which   is a lovely red-faced colour . Now I havecorydaliscoming up all over the place in dissimilar shades .

Some of the Epimediums are in blush now . I go for you remembered to edit out the honest-to-goodness leaves off yours before the flower stalk appeared . Every year I think of it a bit of late and turn a loss a peak pass or two which is really pestering .   The leaves are a lovely , bronzey colour in winter but now they obscure the blossom if they are exit on . Soon you will get lovely fresh new ones appearing and you want to be capable to enjoy them .   The first one to fare into flower for me is this primrose yellow one;Epimedium x versicolor‘Sulphureum ’ .

The orange one is lovely too . It is calledEpimediumx warleyense‘Orange King ’

Epimedium are woodland plants and their delicate flowers are a joyfulness IN spring . There are many beautiful mixture and I will show you a few more of mine in another post .

There are so many endearing plants to spell about at this time of the year and more coming out each day , but that will do for now because the sun has occur out and the garden birdcall .

I have a lot of Epimediums too , which are just starting to flower now . One of my favorite shade plants !

You have so many lovely things ! I ’ve always like the Epimediums , which are n’t suited to our southerly California climate . ( I get laid – I tried to grow them at our former house . ) Corydalis also is n’t reliable here but I may have to have another effort with one of those .

Oh some tangible treasures Chloris . I ’m not surprised that you are disappointed with muscari ‘ Pink Sunset ’ – possibly it lives up to its name and deepens in colour at sidereal day ’s end 🙂
