November ! ’

Helleborus niger
Thomas Hood . 1799 - 1845 .
Poor Thomas , he was feeling gloomy when he write this verse form the year before he died . And perhaps he was hyperbolize a bit , but still on a dank , foggy , mushy form of November day one understands what he felt like . But let ’s be prescribed , we do have prime , even if they are bet rather damp and sorry , and on Garden Bloggers ’ Bloom Day we have to see what we can find .
A lot of what I have blossoming is the same as last calendar month , and many of the blooms from the conclusion of Month View are still soldier on . For instance , I still have roses and Chrysanthemums but I am not going to show you the same blossom as last month . Except you just have to have another smell atGalanthus elwesii‘Barnes ’ which is still looking as good as it did a month ago . And for newcomers to my blog , I have to channelise out that this is not a snowdrop bloom out of time of year , this is when it blooms every twelvemonth .

Skimmia japonica ‘Rubella’
Galanthus elwesii‘Barnes ’
I draw a blank to check myHelleborus nigeruntil today and it has clearly been blossom for some clock time . Next year I must protect it from slug and from getting its pristine , white flowers splashed with mud . Perhaps a ring of gravel would help .

Jasminum nudiflorum
Skimmia Camellia japonica ‘ Rubella ’ looks good all winter with its dark , pink buds . I am always surprised at how betimes they look .
Skimmia maule’s quince ‘ Rubella ’
Jasminum nudiflorum , winter jasmine is in full bloom . The brown branches you see in the foreground areHamamelis x intermedia‘Arnold Promise ’ , and it is indeed full of promise with loads of plump bud . I have had to move the bird table here from the back garden because the sparrowhawk was picking off the raspberry as they were feed . I do n’t think he will number here so close to the windowpane .

Chrysanthemum‘Marjolein Brown’
Jasminum nudiflorum
I showed you my Chrysanthemums last Bloom Day but I forgot this BelgianChrysanthemum‘Marjolein Brown ’ which is full of masses and masses of little bronzey- chocolate-brown flowers .

Salvia involucrata‘Bethellii’
So far , so seasonal , but I still have many salvia looking just as good as they did in summer . Salvia involucrata‘Bethellii ’ is always a late bloomer though . Every yr I question if the flowers will seem before the first frosts . It is hardy but I acquire it in the aegis of the bulwark .
Salvia involucrata‘Bethellii ’
I have show you the come after sage before , but they still appear as fresh as ever .

Salvia‘Hot Lips’

Salvia microphylla‘pink ’
The cutting I take of my sage earlier are all in bloom in the greenhouse . In fact there is a lot in flush in the glasshouse and I do n’t think I have ever take you in there , so countenance ’s have a peek .

Salvia guarantica‘Purple majesty ’
There are newspaper clipping of a deep blue air and a pink Rosemary in full bloom .I love Abutilons and two of them are doing well in the greenhouse . With the next one you’re able to see myBougainvillea . It seems to be a bit slow growing . Neither of the following two plants are reliably hardy so they spend their lives in pot .

Salvia‘Wendy’s Wish’
Grevillea lanigera
TheGrevilleais now safely in the greenhouse . We have n’t had a hoar so far but it ca n’t be farseeing . I love the showy pinkish flowers ofCestrum fasciculatum‘Newelli , I am told that it is hardy down to -5 point centigrade but I would n’t gamble it outside .

Salvia guarantica‘Purple majesty’
I have had this Black eyed Susie , Thunbergia alatain efflorescence all summertime in a potbelly and have rather overlooked it whilst there was so much else to enjoy . Now I am delighted to see it carry on with relish in the greenhouse . I will show you more of the glasshouse another day but there are a twain more out-of-door shot . The photo above showsPennisetum rubrumwhich is not hardy and will die with the first frost . I love it here with theHesperanthain the background knowledge . The lustrous bequeath shrub isDaphne odora‘Aureomarginata’ . The final shot is another plant which I keep in a pot . It is fearless down to -1 degree centigrade , so it will soon have to go in the nursery . You are probably familiar with the annual spring - floweringCineraria , well this is a perennial one . I have had it for two years now . It is speculate to flower in the Spring but it is very welcome now . It is calledPericallis‘Senetti ’ .
Pericallis ‘ Senetti ’

I envisage that that fall was much cold in Thomas Hood ’s poem Chloris hence all those no shows . Thanks for another chance to have a peek at galanthus ‘ Barnes ’ 🙂
It ’s still very colourful round at your situation . My greenhouse is full of salad leaves which , while tasty , look very dull . clock time for a rethink . Do you heat it for all those tender beauties ?
Oh , that poet was a Gloomy Gus , was n’t he ? I loved the peak into your greenhouse , please , please show us more . I think my favorite bloom in this post was the Grevillea lanigera .

How delicious to see so many pretty flowers after I have had Robert Lee Frost here . Your Pericallis is such a gorgeous color , and I like the same colored disc flowers , very elegant . It ’s smashing you have a glasshouse too and can keep some endure there . I was amuse that Hardy ’s verse form seemed to play so to a great extent on the No in November . It ’s sad that it was probably his last November , sometimes November has been quite balmy , here .
You have quite a portion of beautiful bloom this November yourself , Chloris ! I also have a Grevillea lanigera – or actually 2 , one in the ground and one still in a deal waiting for its place in the front garden to be ready for planting . Here , it blooms all year – I hope it perform as well for you . ( The only reason it did n’t make the cut for the GBBD Emily Post , is that it was litter with leave-taking I failed to sort out before heading out with my photographic camera . ) I ’ve also develop the Pericallis , although it does n’t much like the summers here so I commonly treat it as an annual .
Gosh , you do have many things blooming still ! That Skimmia is fantastic ! And what a wonderful collection of Salvias ! Happy GBBD !

There is still so much bloom in your garden ! You ’ve reminded me to go check my Jasminum nudiflorum to see if it ’s blooming . I will try out Galanthus elwesii ‘ Barnes ’ as it ’s such a charming sight in autumn ! I ’m look fore to more visit inside your greenhouse as it expect to be full of treasure ! Happy GBBD !
Your garden is still so in use ! I eff that Purple Majesty .
What a treat in your greenhouse . Thank you for taking us round . I ’ve always had a sonant office for Thomas Hood too – he did have quite a sense of humour when he got go .

Grevillea lanigera
