While North America is experiencing the peak of summer, this Kiwi gardener is enjoying winter blooms
Hi GPOD !
Today we ’re bug out down to the Southern Hemisphere and revisit Lynne Leslie ’s garden in Wellington , New Zealand ( contain out her late submissions : Lynne ’s Windy Garden in New ZealandandLate Spring in Lynne ’s Garden ) . Getting update from Lynne is a two - fold dainty . First , Lynne grows some amazing works with lots of fabulous flowers that would delight no matter her locale . Second , while us gardeners in the Northern Hemisphere are dispense with warmth waves in the peak of summertime , New Zealand is experiencing their wintertime season . We get to see what interesting , and some completely extraneous , plants are growing and blooming on the diametrical terminal of the world .
Even with temperature hovering around 14 arcdegree the weeds just keep on growing ! Gardening mean so much to me . As I potter around near the footpath people stop for a chat and I regularly pass on cuttings to boost others – sharing plants gives me so much pleasure .

hellebore hail in such variety now with new ones appearing in shops every year . I bonk the traditional single , but newer type can have such interesting foliation . At the ending of the season I ignore all foliage and expend flowers off as they spread their seeds with abandon , and aphids love to make the plants their new home .
Another winter favourite is flame vine(Pyrostegia venusta , Zones 9–11).It produce so rapidly that I must cut it back intemperately after flowering . smashing for pick and such a bright light in the garden .
Primrose jasmine(Jasminum mesnyi , Zones 8–11)brings back memory of my Nana , a great gardener . Picked for the vase when bud first appear , the flowers then emerge gradually brightening up the sign of the zodiac .

Alstroemeriaare a real loyalist – easy to grow and flower for so long . To remove the old stems I give them a good hard tug which promote fresh inflorescence . Leaves of newer miscellanea can be very attractive , but sometime variety can spread everywhere here .
The first of my camellias to flower – Guilio Nuccio(Camelliajaponica‘Guilio Nuccio ’ , Zones 7–9).I roll in the hay the stamens and so do the bees .
Spanish fleur-de-lis ( Iris xiphium , Zones 6–9 ) is a wonder get over in water droplet .

Anything with a perfume I just love – luculia(the pink prime depict here),daphne , jonquils , cyclamen , genus Osmanthus etc . rose have been pruned and spray with vegetable oil , so now I look the next exciting season with bulbs , annual , perennial . Gardening is such a marvellous hobby .
Thank you for sharing your incredible garden with us again , Lynne ! While there is raft of diversity in climate and conditions across North America , it ’s an extra particular treat to see garden from afar .
