Nancy’s butterfly (and more!) garden in South Carolina

Today ’s photos are from Nancy Edelman , who says,“I live in Myrtle Beach , South Carolina , and I have a large butterfly garden . My garden is around 10 years old , but it changes every yr . It has rain more than common this summertime and it is a veritable jungle out there .

The garden is a mixing of perennials both for nectar and for innkeeper flora for butterflies , vines , rosiness , flowering evergreens , berry Dubya , and flowering deciduous trees . It changes with the seasons , but also with the migrating of plant . The bootleg - eyed Susans and Mexican petunias ( Ruellia simplex ) are in danger of taking over .

Because of the former spring dusty ginger snap this year we are examine far fewer butterflies than normal . But now the heat vine is full of gulf checkered lily caterpillars and the finocchio has 6 pitch-black morning coat chrysalis and several caterpillars . The cloudless sulphurs are just bear witness up , along with a few spicebush and Panthera tigris morning coat .

The garden also hosts many reptiles , including opprobrious and corn snakes , and turtles , skinks , anole , and frog , and the shuttle haunt the bird confluent and wipe out the berry , specially the blueberry . Every year we have a twain of hummingbirds who make our garden their home plate . It is unfeignedly a live garden . ”
