Today ’s photos are from Julia Brown in Minneapolis , Minnesota .
She says , “ I became interested in flower garden about 30 year ago after seeing a beautiful landscape painting photograph in a magazine . My education has been almost every gardening book in the program library , and hours of gleaning information from greenhouse specialists and friend . There is n’t a huge budget , so instead of boulders and retaining walls , we have cementum edging . Many of the plants are divisions from the garden of friends .
Our backyard retreat begin when I moved here in 1999 , and has been evolving ever since . The K had been neglect for old age , and was almost a wild forest full of grass , bush , vine , thorns , and two large elm tree tree diagram . It begin out as a narrow L form against the boundary of the property , and keep to elaborate yearly . There have been several orotund overhaul need when a tempest blew down one elm tree , and disease look at the other . Someday all of the Mary Jane will hopefully be replaced by bloom . I ’ll gladly take advice on how you or your viewers would change , or add to the landscape to aid me reach that finish !

We both contribute to the garden . I prefer to do the digging , planting , and planning . Jorge makes his fomite available for large loads , and is oftentimes bask the persuasion from outside , or from the windowpane , especially his beloved winter stalwart cactus in the Mexico box . Hardy roses are my favourite , with about fifty presently planted . When sitting outside around the board at night , we have a adorable purview of the Minneapolis business district horizon above the arbor . I trust that you delight our backyard retreat . ”
