Scenes from September

Today we ’re in Kensington , New Hampshire , visiting with Robin Hess .

Here are some photo from my seacoast New Hampshire garden this September . I have been gardening for about four years and specially lovehostas . My garden is mostly Dominicus with just anyshade , which has been a challenge .

A sensational hybrid daylily ( Hemerocallishybrid , Zones 4–9 ) with high - demarcation purple - and - emollient blooming .

We ordinarily conceive of hostas ( Hostahybrids , Zones 4–9 ) asfoliage plants , but the flowers can be quite attractive as well .

The tawny peak head ofCalamagrostisacutiflora‘Karl Foerster ’ ( Zones 5–9 ) are delineate up against a consummate fall grim sky .

Lavender ( Lavandulasp . , Zones 5–9 ) with late - season prime is being enjoyed by a bumblebee .

White liatris ( Liatrissp . , Zones 3–8 ) contrasts with a backcloth of age hydrangea ( Hydrangeapaniculata , Zones 3–9 ) .

Pokeweed ( Phytolaccaamericana , Zones 4–8 ) is anative plantthat is often count a grass , but it has a slew of beauty to offer , and itsberriesare much loved by birds .

A peak bud ofrose of Sharon(Hibiscussyriacus , Zones 5–8 )

This last photos is of a gray tree diagram frog taking advantage of the condensation on the garden hosiery . The frogs “ live ” in my watering can . After I empty a few derriere of pee they tend to come out , so I rush back to the position where they live to be sure they do n’t end up in trauma ’s way . They have been hanging out in my watering can for three summer now .
