Inspired by Southern gardens
Today ’s photograph are from Sharon Danovich Lupone . She garden in Pittsburgh but get laid the style of garden from farther Confederate States .
Since 2008 , we have worked diligently to bring our yard to life . I have pick out the plant and designed thehardscapesand lighting , using the principles of Charleston , South Carolina , landscape couturier Loutrell Briggs . The entry garden , thepondandpatio , and the downcast garden along with their elevation have framed the plantings . The garden is located in Zone 6b , but we grow many works that are more common in warmer climates , such as French pancake myrtles(Lagerstroemia , zone 7–10 ) , camellias(Camelliahybrids , Zones 7–10 ) , pearlbush(Exchorda racemosa , Zones 4–8 ) , aucuba(Aucubajaponica , Zones 7–10 ) , chaste tree(Vitexagnus - castus , Zones 6–10 ) , and ‘ Peggy Martin’roses .
In the perspective up the front step toward the house in bounce , azaleas ( Rhododendronhybrids , Zones 6–10 ) are blooming in their classical spring shade of garden pink .

by and by in the time of year , golden creeping Jenny(Lysimachianummularia‘Aurea ’ , Zones 3–9 ) makes a big splash of bright foliage in front of the bloom shrubs .
By the ingress , an urn is fill with bright foliage and flowers , with a canna lily ( Cannahybrid , Zones 7–10 or as an yearly ) providing both striped leaf and a big spraying of pink flowers .
The entree urn changes seasonally and through the years . This one is mostly shades ofpurple , stressed withsilverand amber .

And in the fall , it takes on the ruddy hues of that season .
Details in the hardscaping tie this garden together — for example , the herringbone pattern radiation diagram in the bricks in the front walkway , which is carried through to the patio in the back .
This special garden is a memorial to Sharon ’s neighbor Susie , who died of a inwardness condition . This garden is full of all of her favorite plants , including French pancake myrtles and phlox ( Phloxpaniculata , Zones 4–8 ) . Susie also loved sundial , so Sharon included one in this garden .

Beautiful brightness fall on aseating areaunder a huge maple ( Acersp . ) tree in the back garden .
And on the front walkway , the sunlight backlights hardy hibiscus ( Hibiscushybrids , Zones 5–10 ) andhydrangea(Hydrangeaarborescens , Zones 3–9 ) .
Sharon send us so many wonderful photos of her garden that we ’re going to divide them over two days . Come back tomorrow to see more of the patio and back garden !
