Community gardeners can reap more than vegetables from their garden beds if they donate some of their harvest to a neighborhood food pantry.
This year marks my fourth season as a voluntary coordinating Denver’sPlant a Row for the Hungrycampaign . Last season , gardeners here donated 4890 British pound sterling of invigorated vegetables and herbs to 16 dissimilar solid food pantries . That ’s almost 2 ½ scores of vegetables to help feed thirsty families .
item-by-item gardeners certainly did their part and donated generously from their home plate garden , but it was the combined effort ofcommunity gardenersthat filled many bushels to further the total .
Plant a Row is a simple concept started by the Garden Writers Association years ago : encourage gardeners to constitute a little extra and ask them to share with others .
