An “ FYI ” for all those who think you may “ compost ” grazon or it ’s 7 or so standardised babe “ broadleaf ” chemical away , you are bushed haywire , and a lab test will corroborate it . The “ we composted it and did n’t have problems ” , quote are from mass who have n’t been using or consuming it for X , and I would say … “ just wait ” … as they were spraying kids exhaust food for thought , kids in swimming pool , young military recruits , and creature we consume , with DDT , and even had adds with singing kine and the intelligence , “ DDT is upright for me - e - einsteinium ” , for a long time before it was ban .
This family of broadleaf chemical substance continue residual for class . And it does n’t just destroy the garden and a few types of plants , it is a systemic in the plant ( that do n’t “ visually ” appear to be affected ) and is overstep on to the semen produced , and it will be a systemic in your body as well . vernacular common sense should be all you need , but mine failed me , and last years “ grazon straw mulch ” error has continue to foment regret for me after starting seed from last age crops . I used “ only ” the hay and no manure , and did n’t till any in . I used it , only as mulch on top of the soil … no manure or compost .
alas , I used it everywhere in my garden last year , to my lasting sorrow , as this year when I start some seeds collect from last years harvest , from squash vine and sunflowers that were mulch with this castaway , and a plenty of the seedling look massively twist , deformed , have retarded development , and resemble the results I saw last year with my pea and edible bean curliqueing and exit . I was also baffled by the pathetic performance and acrobatics of my banana tree melon vine plants , and brassicas , and some deforming of Lycopersicon esculentum plant , scrubby grapes , and stunt cucumber from my “ straw Basle growing ” experiment , which started my deep search for answers .
This transmission channel is one of the many alarming results I came across in my search , and I was bedaze by this find . The gardening community has been betray by the agencies that claim to be learn out for our well being , which instead , are in “ magnanimous chem ’s ” billfold and under their influence . I have spend a workweek of full daytime , of a incubus of sporty up , hauling every last blade of that Grazon contaminated straw that I could possibly take away from last year ’s fatal mistake of straw mulch , to the dump .
What really concerns me is that the residuum are known to last up to 7 yr ( it will be decades before we see the foresightful term effect ) , that may have been wash into my grease .
alas , I wo n’t know until I see how things are growing , hold up , aerobatics , or mutating , in those field where shuck was . Like many of you who shared “ our ” collective grazon experience , this grazon accident I made has been the worst garden mistake of my intact gardening adventure , and I ’ve been at this for half a 100 . right fate to everyone out there who is also on this unwanted adventure . ”
