We have had very cold weather this month and it has been the case across the nation . Even my sister in South Carolina has had snow and frosting and my girl in florida has had below freezing temporary worker . Now we have warm up up just a bit – enough to tease us – and make us think spring is in the air . Not . However we can dream of springtime and our garden to be , especially with the seed catalogue coming in and seed sale offered in our email almost daily .
Gardeners do n’t despair . I take a pass everyday and there is life in the garden as you’re able to see in the pic . Even though the garlic is under a layer of mulch blanket with Baron Snow of Leicester and I can not see a bit of green , I know that those small Eugenia caryophyllatum have sprouts . When the snow melts off , I can see small plants of chickweed , dandelion , fieldcress and nettles . Life is burgeoning underground .

This endearing verse form was recently post on an Urban Moonshine ’s post – I love the imaging – so very apropos this time of year :
“ Do n’t recall the garden loses its ecstasy in wintertime .
It ’s tranquil .

But the roots are down there riotus . ”
— Rumi
When I walk in the woods , the trails are slick and tricky – either with snow and slush – or on these warmer twenty-four hour period with mud . The earth is squishy and full of urine . The Cattail Creek is running tight with little rapid ; it is terrifically uplifting to take the air along the creek bank and hear the water and see the birdie darting about and hear their calls . Just being in the woods with the big majestic trees is soothing ; I ideate that I can feel the waterworks and sap moving within the as they shake in the winter hint .

Then I get to come inwardly and stoke the range , have a cuppa afternoon tea and perhaps peruse another new source catalogue . These are something that I look fore to – although I commonly do n’t allow myself the pleasure of langusihing by the stove until after my chores are done – feeding the birds , hauling wood , stoke the stove and other household job besides work . have a pile of seed catalogs is like having a good Scripture hold back for you at the destruction of the day .
I am rosy to have a greenhouse seize to the south side of our inactive solar house , so I do have lots of plant life in there giving me pleasure as well as oxygen . I have bulb going so I get some blooms which furnish happy mint and smells this time of year . This is easy to do and so worthwhile … it ’s not too tardy to try some yourself . Indoor blooming houseplants are a bright spot on these cold-blooded Zane Grey days . I also produce sprouts on the kitchen retort for fresh solid food and the joy of see the miracle of seed sprouting .
Undoubtedly , we have dusty weather ahead – meanwhile take some walk and pass off the cold air into your lung – and be outside with nature . Then amount inside and scrunch down and savour the slowdown of the time of year . Before we know it , it will be outflow and then we will be catch up once again in the stir as new life and maturation abound .
